The day has finally come my friends; Nintendo is finally making strides towards improving their online presence and seem poised to “play with the big guys” in the online department. The Nintendo Network was formally announced in a meeting with investors yesterday. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata states the service will offer features different from the current Wi-Fi Connection supporting its Wii and DS hardware, and is seen as a distribution channel for full versions of retail video games. Check out the quote below:
“Unlike Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, which has been focused upon specific functionalities and concepts, we are aiming to establish a platform where various services available through the network for our consumers shall be connected via Nintendo Network service so that the company can make comprehensive proposals to consumers,”
Exciting stuff for Nintendo. Stay tuned.

According to a new rumor, Microsoft will upgrade its disc technology for its next Xbox from DVDs to Blu-Ray discs, catching up to rival Sony, games industry sources tell Kotaku. Rumors have begun to surge in regards to Microsoft’s next console and will no doubt continue until E3 2012.
As always, we will keep you updated.
The following quote should be considered a rumor as of right now but apparently the Nintendo Wii U will have more to offer than what was shown at E3. Be sure to read the full quote below and let me know what you think:
What we saw last E3 is not a reflection of everything this console is able to offer. We have been trying the development kits and some of its new characteristics will improve its possibilities. It isn’t something like Kinect or similar accessories, it’s something different.
I can’t tell you more about it because, if I do, Nintendo will send assassins to finish me! (laughs) But let’s say that Wii U will be a console with so many and unique possibilities that it will be difficult to show them in the box they are going to sell it or to be published by magazines and other mediums.
I think it would be amazing if Nintendo had another few tricks up its sleeve in regards to their next home console and E3 2012 will be interesting to say the least. Stay tuned.
The latest Entertainment Software Rating Board listing update has revealed that the immensely popular Grand Theft Auto 3 and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City are coming to the Playstation 3. Sony Computer Entertainment is being listed as the publisher for both games, making it extremely likely that they are PS2 Classic re-releases on the Playstation Network.
Let’s keep those fingers crossed for an HD remake complete with trophies.
More as it develops.
